Preciosa Ornela will once again open its doors to the public after a year.
Take advantage of this unique opportunity to see how our internationally renowned glass seed beads are created. There will also be displays of manual production and the cutting of decorative glass items.

You will also have the opportunity to see the manual production of crystal decorative items. You will see how demanding and at the same time beautiful the glassmaking craft is.
The open day at Preciosa Ornela will take place as part of the Crystal Valley Weekend regional event.

The Bead Shop of Preciosa Ornela in Zásada and also the Atlas Bijoux and Yani companies will be OPENED at the same day.
You will also have chance to visit the Riedl's tomb in Desná, that reminds us the history of one of the most famous glass family – the Riedel family.
In the Riedl's villa in Desná there will be seed bead workshop for children and their parents.

On Sunday 16. 6. 2024, the production premises of Preciosa Ornela in Desná were once again opened to the public
Devotees of glassmaking had the opportunity to take a look at the Preciosa Ornela glassworks in Desná and there was definitely much to see. Visitors were not only able to view a glassmaking furnace, the production areas and workshops, but also the hand work of experienced master glassmakers, which fascinated all the visitor age groups. It is precisely this manual working of glass that has been entered into the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists.
The tour began at the Desná glassworks. There, in the oldest part of the glassworks, visitors were able to see a glassmaking furnace and the traditional hand production of the glass tubes needed for seed bead production. The guests were then able to view the modern production of glass tubes using advanced glassmaking machines in another building known as the “Perlovka”. After that, the tour continued to the cutting room where the tubes are cut. This was followed by further examples of production, i.e. tumbling and sorting where the seed beads acquire their desired shape. Our guides provided detailed information on the entire production process and willingly answered any inquisitive questions.
The open day did not end with seed bead production. The visitors continued to a tour of the hand production and polishing of decorative glass items. There was also a creative workshop at the Riedl Villa where both children and adults could create bracelets out of seed beads. On the same day, visitors were also able to visit the Riedl Tomb in Desná, which recalls the history of one of the most famous glassmaking families. The Atlas Bijoux and Yani costume jewelry companies and the Preciosa Ornela company shop in Zásada were also open.
This year’s open day at the glassworks was yet another success and we are sure that all the participants enjoyed it.
