Necklace with Seed Bead Caps

We present another tutorial for an original fashion accessory which you can easily make yourself. The combination of seed beads made from turquoise atlas glass and the newly improved imitation limestone travertine surface finish is exceptional.

The beads are decorative seed bead caps which help to achieve an interesting effect. However, thanks to the wide color range of the beads and seed beads in the PRECIOSA Traditional Czech Beads brands, it is also possible to come up with other interesting combinations and to put various types of beads and seed beads together. We are sure that you will find something you like.

We wish you much inspiration and enjoyment from making your own jewelry.

a 0.45 mm wire (regular); small ovals or rings (platinum); a counter-ring (platinum); a 14 mm carabiner (platinum); a metal crimp bead (platinum)

Tools

a 0.20 mm nylon line; a thin sewing needle; scissors; snipping pliers; flat nose pliers (crimping the metal crimp bead)

Procedure

A simply strung necklace with beads and decorative seed bead caps.

Step 1

String and tie off 4x T-C (atlases). Thread the line through the T-C nearest to the knot one more time. String one T-C and return to the previous T-C from the second side (square stitch). Insert the needle into the next T-C, once again string 1x T-C and return to the previous bead. Do the same thing along the entire circumference (figure). Insert the needle in the outer T-C. String 1x R8. Thread the line through the next outer T-C. Do the same thing along the entire circumference. String a rocaille between the T-C. Connect the stringing at the circumference. String 1x T-C, return to the initial T-C (square stitch). Thread the line through the R8 and the next T-C along the circumference. String 1x T-C and return to the initial T-C.

Step 2

Add the other T-C along the entire circumference in this way (figure 2a). Thread the line through the outer T-C. String 2x R8 and insert the needle into the next outer T-C. Do this along the entire circumference. Connect the stringing and sew it in. Tie a double knot between the rocailles. Thread the line through the next three R8. Tie a simple knot and thread the line through several seed beads. Cut off the line. Pull the end of the line into several seed beads and cut it off (figure 2b).

Step 3

The larger cap for the 17 mm FPB

The procedure is the same as for the smaller cap, just with a larger number of beads.

String and tie off 5x T-C. Thread the line through the nearest T-C to the knot. String one T-C and return to the initial T-C. Add T-C along the entire circumference in this way (figure 3a). Insert the needle into the outer T-C. String 1x R8 and insert the needle into the next outer T-C. Connect the stringing along the entire circumference in this manner. Add a rocaille between the T-C. String 1x T-C and return to the initial T-C. Thread the line through the rocaille and the next outer T-C.

String 1x T-C and return to the initial T-C. Continue like this along the entire circumference (figure 3b). Thread the line through the outer T-C. String 2x T-C and insert the needle into the next outer T-C. Once again, connect the entire stringing along the circumference in this way.
Tie off the line with a double knot. Thread the line through several seed beads and tie a simple knot. Pull the end of the line into the surrounding seed beads.

Step 4

The stringing

Snip off about 60 cm of wire. Create a loop at the start. String a crimp bead and 10x R10 and thread it back to the crimp bead. Crimp the crimp bead. String 1x FPB8 and a metal crimp bead onto a wire and then crimp the crimp bead. Shorten the start of the wire to about 2 cm. Hide the ends in the bead holes. String a further 11x FPB8 with one R8 between each of them.

Continue the stringing with a larger seed bead cap, 1x FPB14, a larger seed bead cap, 1x R8, 1x FPB8, 1x R8, a larger seed bead cap, 1x FPB17 and a larger seed bead cap. Repeat the stringing on the second side, but in the opposite order. The necklace is 48 cm long. Connect a carabiner and a counter-ring in the center of the rocaille loops using ovals.
