Simple stringing of Preciosa seed beads

Material

A double cup calotte with a connecting piece with a hole; Christmas hooks

Tools

Thick no. 30 thread, for example Amann Group Aspo or Belfil-S; a strong, thin needle; scissors; thin tailor's thread; a ruler; flat-nosed pliers; pliers with rounded/cone-shaped points

Procedure

Step 1

First create a large thread loop. Cut off 20 cm of thin tailor's thread. String it into the eye of the needle. Tie off the ends. Create a loop from both ends. Thread both ends through it. Tighten. Move the tied knot to the side of the thread loop.

Step 2

Cut off 1 m of the thicker thread. Thread the end into thread loop. Move the thread loop to the centre of the 1m thread. Fold the thread in half.

Step 3

Tie a knot several cm from the ends of the thread. Create a loop from both ends. Thread both ends through the loop. Tighten. Tie a second knot on the first knot in the same way. Then add another third knot to the second one. Shorten the end to 1 mm. Thread the hole on the calotte connector between the two cups. Hide the knot in the cups. If the knot is sufficiently large, it will not pass through the hole in the calotte. Otherwise, add another knot.

Step 4

String the R6. Choose the length of the garland. The examples are 25 cm and 30 cm long. You can string the R6 one at a time. If you have a large number, pour them into a pile. Run the needle through the pile and the R6 will string themselves. Mix the pile up occasionally.

String the second calotte behind the R6 through the hole in the connecting piece. Face the cups away from the R6. Cut the thicker thread in the arch. Remove the needle with the thread loop. Also create a large triple knot on this side. The first tightened knot should be about 1 cm from the R6. Take your time and carefully tie the knots one after the other. The calotte cups will make the work more difficult. Shorten the end of the thread to 1 mm behind the large knot.

Step 6

Close the calottes. Initially press the cups together with your fingers. Once there is just a small gap between them, use the flat-nosed pliers to close them.

Step 7

Use the pliers to create an eye from the protruding section of the calotte. Grasp the edge of the piece between the points of the pliers. Twist the pliers to turn it around the points. Slightly open the eye.

Step 8

Hang the Christmas hooks in the eyes on the calottes. Press the hook bend together, so that the wire crosses over. Decorate your Christmas tree, some branches in a vase or even a gift.
