Autumn Lace

Step 1

Size: The finished earrings are approximately 7.5 cm in length but can be made to measure.

Note: In the diagrams, beads with a black outline are the new beads being added, beads with no outline were added in previous steps.

To make the first component:

Thread your needle with a 55 cm length of thread and pick up 1x R10A and 1x T 6 times. Leaving a 15 cm tail, pass your needle through all the beads again to form a ring and then pass through the first R10A and T again. Complete the step by passing your needle through the empty hole of the T your needle is exiting ready to begin working in the opposite direction. Figure 1.

Step 3

Pick up 2x R10B, 1x R10A and 2x R10B and pass your needle through the next F. Continue in this way adding 2x R10B, 1x R10A and 2x R10B between each F. Complete the row by stepping up through the first 2x R10B of this row. Figure 3.

Step 5

Pull the tail thread firmly to close any gaps and tie off and trim this thread only. Figure 5.

Step 7

To attach the components:

Place 2 components side by side and using one of the remaining threads pick up 1x R10B, 1x R10A and 1x R10B and pass your needle through a corresponding R10A on the second component. Pick up 1x R10B, 1x R10A and 1x R10B and pass your needle through the first R10A again. Figure 7.

Step 9

Repeat steps 7 and 8 to attach the final component. Make sure that the components lay in a straight line with 2 unattached points on either side. Figure 9.

Step 11

To complete the earring:

Using the pliers, open a jump ring and pass it through the R10A at the top of the hanging loop and through the earring finding. Close the jump ring. Figure 11.
