Materials

A wooden cut-out for embroidering – the heart; thread (Belfil-S 80; 50; 30 or a nylon thread, for example LI04; tailor's thread); a chain; a ring; a carabiner; a ribbon

A thin needle; scissors

Procedure

Step 1

Pull off or diagonally cut about 150 cm of thread (an arm's width). Double up any thin thread, i.e. two arm's widths (Belfil-S 80 or tailor's thread). Carefully thread it into the eye of the needle. Moisten the end of the thread. Cut off any thin "fine hairs" at the point and thread the eye. Keep an eye out for any knotting of the thread when working.

Step 2

Twist the thread at the outer hole in the cut-out (at holes 1 and 3). Leave about 15 cm free at the end.

Step 3

Sew on 2x R between the holes in the cut-out. The seed beads have a tendency to tip into the holes in the cut-out, so straighten them up on the base using the needle. String the beads according to the ascending numbers in the diagram. Alternate between the front and back of the cut-out.

Step 4

Sew from the left-hand edge of the cut-out to the right. Fill in the gaps between the holes both horizontally and vertically.

Step 5

Add the missing R. Gradually return from the right-hand edge of the cut-out to the left.

Step 6

Tie off the ends of the thread with two knots. Pull the ends into the R next to two gaps between the holes.

You can use the embroidered heart as a decoration on a gift or you can hang it from a chain and create a necklace.
