Double Fantasy

On Thursday 9.1.2020, the Jablonec Eurocentre hosted the 11th annual traditional fashion show, which was also adorned by some of the finalists from the Miss Czech Republic competition.

Twenty creative teams consisting of costume jewelry and jewelry companies, five specialist and art-oriented schools and a number of fashion designers and salons prepared a total of 60 unique models. And, as the show’s name suggests, the connection of fashion designers and costume jewelry accessory designers allowed them to give their artistry and fantasy free rein.

Preciosa Ornela has long supported young students. This year, however, the cooperation with art-oriented schools was at record levels! A total of 15 extravagant models with Bohemian beads and seed beads from the PRECIOSA Traditional Czech Beads™ brand were created in 5 collaborations. Judge for yourself.

As has been the case every year, Preciosa Ornela’s designer Petra Lejsková cooperated with the Applied Arts Secondary School and College in Jablonec nad Nisou. The models were then realised by Ivana Brabcová at the Style Iva dressmaking studio.

Embroidered appliques and headbands made of Rocailles from the PRECIOSA Traditional Czech Beads™ brand adorn all three models. When creating this collection, the design team gave its fantasy free rein and made unconventional combinations of diverse materials and tones of intensive colors.

The students of the Applied Arts Secondary School of Glassmaking in Železný Brod and the College of Fashion Design and Secondary School of Fashion in Prague prepared three unique models.

The first model

Jewelry design: Silvie Šrámková (Applied Arts Secondary School of Glassmaking in Železný Brod)
Model design: Filip Chytka (College of Fashion Design and Secondary School of Fashion in Prague)

The designed piece of jewelry is inspired by a rosehip bush. An arm bracelet of the same type accompanies the necklace which winds around the bare shoulder. The diagonal composition which respects the cut of the dress is completed with a ring. All of the jewelry has been made using “pakfong” wire. The individual parts have been polished into points and connected together in the form of a branch of thorns. Red Fire polished beads from the PRECIOSA Traditional Czech Beads™ brand have been glued to the ends of the thorns.

The second model

Jewelry design: Darja Parsi (Applied Arts Secondary School of Glassmaking in Železný Brod)
Model design: Dagmar Sovová (College of Fashion Design and Secondary School of Fashion in Prague)

The jewelry consists of stripes of Rocailles which have been sewn onto metal hangers. The coolness of the nylon fabric on the dress is supported by the color transition from shades of blue through to white, while the sewn on metal hangers respect the character of the dress in the color of their galvanised metal finish. At the same time, their shape gives the dress a certain cool aggressiveness. This impression is further enhanced by the pointiness of the seed bead stripes which evoke frozen icicles with their shape and color.

The third model

Jewelry design: Nikola Lišková (Applied Arts Secondary School of Glassmaking in Železný Brod)
Model design: Kerstin Faustová (College of Fashion Design and Secondary School of Fashion in Prague)

The jewelry consists of a choker, in which the svěsy connect the neck and the shoulders and from the belt. The main element involves the use of black Fire polished beads from the PRECIOSA Traditional Czech Beads™ brand.

The Secondary School of Design and Fashion in Prostějov, as represented by its graduate Marie Hrachovcová, presented 3 colorful models supplemented with masks made of seed beads from the PRECIOSA Traditional Czech Beads™ brand.

Collection name: COSMO.
The young designer took her inspiration from the 1960s, the age of COSMO and a funky style with a slight hint of punk. The patterns on the materials are reminiscent of the style of OP Art and the accessories in the form of headwear are also a somewhat unconventional, yet modern take on the COSMO helmet.

This young talented designer presented his models at the Made in Jablonec fashion show for the second time. However, this year’s duo, i.e. Adam Grmolec’ fashion design and beads and seed beads by Preciosa Ornela, had its premiere this year.

The last collection was created by students from the Kateřinky Fashion Design Secondary School in Liberec and the designer Kateřina Krausová.

Design of the costume jewelry accessories: the designer Kateřina Krausová
Design and realisation of the model: Aneta Březinová and Mariana Hanáková (the Fashion Design course) under the supervision of Petra Jonášová

The collection of three models on the theme of Double Fantasy was created under the supervision of Petra Jonášová on the basis of designs by Aneta Březinová and Mariana Hanáková, students from the Fashion Design course.

The models display an unconventional approach to textile materials consisting of taffeta in a color scheme according to the fashion trends of the spring-summer 2020 season. An original element involves the agitation of the weft thread at the edge of the dress which creates a very unconventional effect. Sewing on taffeta ribbons and details made of seed bead components by Preciosa Ornela give the models an extraordinary appearance  and fulfil the form of the experiment which was the starting point for the theme of Double Fantasy.
