DesignBlok | Studio of Glass FUD UJEP & PRECIOSA ORNELA | Trade Fair Palace of the National Gallery Prague
For us, the Melting Point is synonymous with a place where our life philosophies solidify into matter that speaks to the defining themes of our time. We search for new ways to unplug, eliminate fatigue, and embrace the potential of returning to an analog life and peaceful sleep.
Glass is a medium through which we express either our dissent or our fascination. This project forms a dialogue between two generations, bringing together the studio's leadership and the upcoming generation within a shared space. We use glass as a dynamic medium and a communicative tool to convey our thoughts about the world today. Together, we present the outcomes of our artistic research utilizing Liba Colors 96 colored glass, generously provided for this exhibition by Preciosa Ornela. This specific color palette has opened up new possibilities for us to push the boundaries of interior objects and product design.

PRECIOSA ORNELA AND PROJECT OBJECTIVE
The goal of the collaboration between Preciosa Ornela, a.s. and the Glass Studio at Jan Evangelista Purkyne University in Ústí nad Labem was for students to use fully compatible Liba Colors 96 glass (LC96) in innovative ways. The main emphasis in these works involved assessing the aesthetic harmony of the individual colours from the colour pallet available. All of these works can provide inspiration to other artists who would like to work with the innovative LC96 glass system. LIBA Colors 96 glass has a Coefficient of Expansion of COE 96, which is ideal for glass casting and fusing techniques undertaken in a furnace. This product has placed the company among the ranks of international producers of glass materials with this compatibility.

FRAGMENTS OF EXISTENCE
KATEŘINA ČERVEŇOVÁ
Fragments of Existence is a series of imaginary figures that tell a story of transformation, transience, and irreversibility. They capture traces of moments that stay with us long after
they pass.

SYNTÉZA
NOEMI FROSTOVÁ
This project focuses on finding new technological intersections in glass through rarely combined techniques. By merging the clean surfaces of cast glass with hand-cut segments and slumped shapes, we create objects that open an engaging visual dialogue.

EMBODY
NICOLE JAROŠOVÁ
Embody stems from the idea of physicality — the concept that through our bodies, we perceive, experience, and connect with the world around us. Through its appearance and interactive element, it invites us to pause and return to our own bodies.

WHAT VASE? THAT VASE.

BETWEEN LAYERS
ZUZANA KAŠPAROVÁ
This piece draws on the natural growth of stalactites and their gradual formation over time, as material slowly accumulates, builds up in layers, and leaves a trace of its own creation. A crosssection of the object reveals its hidden core as well as its growth layers from oldest to newest, uncovering a record of time embedded in the material’s structure.

TVARNICE
LEA PLACHÁ
Two objects based on the same curves. While the first shape evokes a naturally formed rock, the second develops the same geometry through layers reminiscent of contour lines. Together, they reveal two forms of a single shape — a landscape as a natural formation, and a landscape as a human record.
SABINA JERSÁKOVÁ
Drive and pretend your brakes are on vacation, step on the gas and don’t you dare stop. There is no final destination. If you know someone who suffers from sleep deprivation, please, tuck them in and cover them with a blanket.

SMOTAT
MONIKA VALOVIČOVÁ
Glass coasters featuring the texture of a coiled and knotted rope, creating perfect little pockets to catch condensation from your drink or small fruits. These coasters are for anyone who climbs walls, sails seas, jumps rope, or simply loves ropes and knots.

WITHIN FORM
JEREMIÁŠ MIKLOŠKA
The bowl is a record of a dialogue between shape, time, and layering, which imprints into the colored structure of the glass. It is a reflection that the final form does not emerge from a single gesture, but rather through gradual layering and the revealing of its own structure, where shape and identity are created by the sum of acquired experiences.

ATLAS
LLEV
Through this object, we are reminded that thanks to the sun, human connection, friendship, and love, we can bear whatever life puts in our path. We tell the story of a person — of Atlas — of all of us who face the weight of the heavens and the noise of this world, which distracts us from what truly matters with a flood of information. The individual layers and shades of glass embody energy — an energy that remains with us until the very end as our inner light.
LLEV
ONDŘEJ SLÁMA
The piece uses the motif of a tapestry and its hidden reverse as a metaphor for the contrast between our flawlessly presented facade and our chaotic inner world. Through the transparency of the material, these two states visually blend together, provoking the viewer to look beyond the curtain of apparent perfection.
Photographs are coming soon.

KONTAKT
PAVLÍNA ČEŘOVSKÁ & ELIŠKA POZNÍKOVÁ
Project Kontakt combines a solid wooden frame with the organic, air-sculpted texture of cast glass. The resulting piece of furniture embodies the meeting of two contrasting structures, as well as our first real contact with traditional craftsmanship.
