Procedure

Step 1

The knot is created from two crocheted tubes, each 22 cm long (ca 17 cm for a wrist bracelet). String the rocailles onto a 150 cm long piece of yarn according to the pattern (fig. no. 1a The pattern) for the first tube. For the second tube, only string R10b onto a 150 cm long piece of yarn.

1

Step 2

Create the initial stitch. Keep it relatively large as you will later use it to connect the rocailles into a circle (fig. no. 2a). Count off 6 rocailles and crochet a chain with the rocailles. Shift one rocaille as close as possible to the hook and then catch the yarn behind it and crochet the first stitch with a rocaille. Repeat the procedure 5 more times and in doing so create 6 chain stitches with 6 rocailles (fig. no. 2b).

Step 3

Then pass the hook through the first initial stitch and pull the yarn through both stitches at once (fig. nos. 3a – 3b). Poke the hook into the stitch to the left of the first rocaille, twist the rocaille downwards and to the right, move the next rocaille as close as possible, catch the yarn with the hook and crochet a slip stitch (pull the yarn through both stitches at once) (fig. no. 3c). Add the rocailles to the second row (fig. no. 3d).

3 / a

Step 4

Crochet a slip knot with rocailles going round in a spiral. If all of the rocailles have their holes turned towards the direction of the crocheting (i.e. upwards), you have proceeded correctly (fig. no. 4a). Continue crocheting until you have used up all the rocailles and create two tubes (fig. no. 4b),

4 / a

Step 5

Use the remainder of the yarn to sew the ends of the tubes together (fig. nos. 5a – 5b). Attach an eye pin (fig. no. 5c).

5 / a

Step 6

Sew a cap made from black rocailles. Sew the first row using a herringbone stitch. String 4x R10c onto a line, move them to the end of the line and tie two knots (fig. no. 6a). Pass the needle through two R10c (fig. no. 6b), collect a further two R10c on the needle and thread the needle downwards through the adjacent R10c (fig. no. 6c).
Then pass the needle upwards through the next adjacent R10c (without adding any rocailles) (fig. no. 6d). Add another two R10c in a similar way and continue until you have a line with 22 rocailles (fig. no. 6e – 6f).

6 / a

Step 7

Sew on another row in the next step. String 2x R10c and pass the needle through the second R10c of the previous row (fig. no. 7a). Pass the needle through the second R10c of the newly added row (fig. no. 7b). String 1x R10c and pass the needle through the third R10c of the previous row (fig. no. 7c). Pass the needle through the newly added R10c (fig. no. 7d). Continue in this way to the end of the row (fig. no. 7e). Sew another row in the same way (fig. no. 7f).

7 / a

Step 8

Sew the strip around the ends of the tubes (fig. nos. 8a – 8b). Sew one more row according to Step 7 as necessary (fig. nos. 8c – 8e). In the following row, sew on every second R10c (fig. no. 8f) and then connect them together and tighten them (fig. no. 8g).

8 / a

Step 9

In the last row, also sew through every second R10c and tighten them (fig. nos. 9a – 9b). String a decorative R8b rocaille onto an eye pin, create a loop with the pliers and then insert a ring for connecting the fastening into it (fig. no. 9c). Finish the second tube in the same way (fig. no. 9d).

9 / a

Step 10

Thread the ends of the tubes so that a knot is created (fig. nos. 10a – 10b). Attach the fastening (fig. nos. 10c – 10d).
