Woven bracelet with PRECIOSA White Lining seed beads

Tools

A small weaving loom; a thin and medium thread (Belfil-S 30 – the warp; Belfil – S 50 - the weft); gold decorative thread; scissors; needles; a costume jewelry end piece; 2x 0.5 mm rings; 1x carabiner; an extending chain (16 links); flat-nosed pliers; round-nose pliers; snipping pliers; glue

Procedure

The width of the bracelet depends on the number of rocailles in the row. The bracelet in the tutorial is ca 2.5 cm wide (17 rocailles in the row). The length of the bracelet depends on the number of rocaille rows and the length of the rocaille columns. The bracelet in the tutorial contains 36 rocaille rows and the rocaille columns consist of 10 or 15 rocailles on one thread.

Step 1

Tighten the warp of 18 threads on a weaving loom so that the warp is tight. You can, but don't have to, replace the outer threads with the decorative golden thread. The golden thread is then more decorative in the bracelet. Leave the ends of the threads quite long. String a 1.5 m long thread into the eye of the needle and tie the free end to the outer thread of the warp with a simple knot so that approximately 20 cm of free thread remain. Leave the end of the thread free.

Step 2

Create a mix of seed beads using the selected colors. String 17x R10 onto the thread with the needle. Move them to the tied-off end of the thread and press all the R10 to the warp from below. Pass the thread through all R10 in the opposite direction above the warp and in doing so create a weft. Create horizontal rocaille rows in this manner. Create 13 rocaille rows in total. If the stringing thread proves to be insufficient during the course of the work, just tie on a new thread and hide the knot in the seed beads.

Step 3

Create a vertical rocaille column. You have to weave the thread through the warp in the lower section from the weaving loom and string 10x R10 onto each thread in the warp (with the exception of the outer threads). You can string the needle on each thread for easier stringing. Then tighten the warp again. Pass the thread with which you exited from the last rocaille row in Step 2 through the first R10 of this last row from below. Then pass the thread through the first rocaille column so that you reach behind the rocaille column and can continue back along the rocaille rows. Move the rocaille columns as close as possible to the last rocaille row.

Step 4

Continue according to Step 2 and create 5 rocaille rows. Then continue the rocaille columns again according to Step 3. This time, string 15x R10 onto every thread. Then continue again in weaving 5 rocaille rows. Create more rocaille. String 10x R10 onto every thread. Complete the bracelet with the 13^th rocaille row.

Step 5

Completing the bracelet

Remove the bracelet from the loom. Tie off both ends of the threads at each end of the bracelet and cut off the ends of the threads. You can put a drop of glue onto the knots. Insert the last rocaille row and the knots into the end piece. Do the same at the other end of the bracelet.

Step 6

Add a ring and a carabiner to the end piece on one side. Use the pliers to slightly open the ring and string the end piece and the carabiner onto it. Close the ring using the pliers. Add the extending chain to the end piece on the other end of the bracelet. Use the pliers to slightly open the ring, string the chain and the ring and close them with the pliers.
