Pendant with a crocheted heart

Make a little crocheted heart out of PRECIOSA PermaLux seed beads hung on a pendant and celebrate the day of lovers in style! You can use the heart as a pendant on a chain, on a handbag or as a gift from the heart.

Tools

Jeans crocheting yarn; a nylon line; a Big Eye needle; or a stringing needle with an eye made of a fine line; a 1 mm hook; a 6 mm decorative bead

Procedure

Step 1

String seed beads onto a piece of yarn at a length of approximately 1.5 m (figure no. 1a). Use the Big Eye needle: this needle has a threading eye along its entire length. Leave ca 20 cm of the end thread. Make the basic chain loop and then two more chain loops (fig. nos. 1b-1c). Then crochet a short column of four loops with seed beads. Connect it together with the first chain loop (fig. nos. 1d-1e).

Step 2

Add two short columns of seed beads to each loop from the previous row so that you have 8 seed beads in the circle (fig. nos. 2a-2b). And now crochet another 34 rows, so that the tube has a length of ca 5.5 to 6 cm) (fig. no. 2c). Crochet 3 loops without any seed beads (fig. no. 2d) and then 5 loops with seed beads (fig. no. 2e). Cut off the thread. Similarly crochet the second tube and cut off the thread (fig. no. 2f).

Step 3

Join the tubes: poke the needle into the first of the three empty loops in the tube, where you left the thread. Then hook under one of the empty loops in the second tube (fig. no. 3a) and crochet them with a slip stitch. Proceed in the same way with the other two loops (fig. nos. 3b-3c).

Step 4

Continue by crocheting short columns with seed beads. Crochet 5 loops along the outer sides, initially at the first and then at the 5 remaining ones on the second one – a total of 10 (fig. nos. 4a-4c). Repeat the row with 10 seed beads. Skip the first seed bead in the next row and crochet the remaining 9 seed beads (fig. nos. 4d-4e). Skip another bead in the next row and crochet 8 seed beads until such time as you are left with the last 4 seed beads, which you can then also crochet. Sew in any remaining thread (fig. nos. 4f-4g).

Step 5

Form a spiral on the first tube and sew in the remainder of the thread (fig. nos. 5a-5c). Do the second thread in the same way on the other side (fig. no. 5d).

Step 6

Use the line to sew the decorative bead between the points of the tubes (fig. no. 6a). Add a ring for the pendant and you can also add other seed beads (fig. nos. 6b-6c).
