Sewn ring made with seed beads

We have prepared an example of a small accessory as an example of the PRECIOSA Terra Intensive contrasting shades. You can use whatever combination of various tones takes your fancy. These intensive colors are prepared on PRECIOSA 10/0 and 6/0 rocailles, PRECIOSA Farfalle™ 3.2 x 5 mm and also on PRECIOSA Twin™ 2.5 x 5 mm.

Material and Tools

Tools

A sewing sieve with a diameter of 16 mm – 9 holes around the circumference; a 17 mm round ring base (possibly also with points - they can be snipped off)

- a 0.20 mm nylon line; a thin needle; scissors; snipping pliers; a file; hot melt glue

Procedure

Step 1

String 6x T. Tie them off. Thread the longer end of the line through both holes of the T nearest the knot. Thread the shorter end of the line through the holes in the T and cut it off.

Step 2

String 1x R8 into each gap between the T. Join up the circumference.

2

Step 3

String 1x R10, 1x T and 1x R10 between the R8. Join up the circumference in the T. Also thread the line through the second hole in the T.

3

Step 4

String 1x R8, 1x R10 and 1x R8 into the gaps between the T. Join up the circumference.

4

Step 5

Thread the line through the circumference one more time. Sew it in between the R.

Step 6

Attach the line to the sieve. Place the knot at the back (the concave side). Use the longer part of the line in the next part of the sewing. Tie the shorter end to the longer one. This will secure the individual phases of the sewing.

Step 7

Thread the line through the central hole. String 1x R8. Thread the line through the gap between two T. String 1xs R10 (place it above the central hole). Thread the line through the adjacent gap between two T. Thread the line through the R8 and the central hole on the sieve. Tie off the line.

Step 8

Sew the sewn part to the sieve in the gaps between the seed beads. You have 24 seed beads along the circumference and 9 holes on the sieve. Therefore divide the circumference into groups of 3x, 3x and 2x. Once, it has been sewn on, tie off the line and cut off both ends about 3 mm from the knot.

Step 9

Prepare the ring. Snip off any points and lightly file it down. Glue the sieve and the ring together.
