Effective sewn brace let in the oriental style

Create an effective ornamental bracelet using PRECIOSA Twin™ and PRECIOSA Candy™ and seed beads.
We have expanded our range of pressed PRECIOSA Twin™ beads to include the smaller size of 2 x 4 mm. This bead can be combined with the smallest 6 mm shape of the PRECIOSA Candy™ bead to make a simple, effective pattern with oriental undertones.

Materials

Brass – a large American T-bar fastening; 5 mm rings

Tools

A 0.20 mm nylon line; a thin needle; scissors; flat nose pliers (for flattening the start)

Procedure

The bracelet consists of a number of ornaments which have been sewn together.

String 6x T. Tie off the line. Thread the line through the second hole of the T next to the knot.

Step 2

String 1x C. String 3x T. Thread the line through the second hole of the C. Thread the line through the hole of the next T from the initial circle. Repeat this 5 more times. All the C must have their protruding sides turned in the same direction. At the end, thread the line through the hole in the C and the lower holes of the T above the C.

Step 3

String 3x R1. Thread the line through the upper holes of the three T above the C. Repeat this 4 more times. String 3x T. At the end, first thread the line through the lower and hole of the T and only then through the upper one.

Step 4

String 3x R2. Thread the line through the upper hole of the T. String 1x R. Thread the line through the upper hole of the T. String 1x R. Thread the line through the upper hole of the T. Repeat this 5 more times. Sew the line in, preferably between the R1. Therefore, thread the line through 3x R2 and both holes of the adjacent T.

If it is not possible to thread the eye of the needle though the holes in the beads and the seed beads, just thread the line.

Connecting the ornaments

Step 5

When adding the R2 between the T in Step 4, connect the neighbouring ornaments along the sides. String 1x R2 on a new ornament and thread the line through 1x R2 on the neighbouring ornament. Thread the line through both rocailles one more time. Thread the line through the R2 on the new ornament one more time.

The loop for the fastening

Step 6

Sew 4x R2 onto the 3x R2 on the sides of the outer ornaments. String a total of 7x R2. Create a loop, sew it through 2x. Sew through the 3 side R2 one more time.

Assembly

Step 7

Attach the T-bar fastening to the loops on the outer ornaments. Attach the circle using one ring and the T-bar using two or three rings.

Step 8

You can „play around“ with the ornaments. Create a set and add earrings and a necklace. Sew a multiple-row bracelet. Sew the ornaments into hexagonal tiles and use them to decorate handbags. Even the hem of a garment can be made to look more interesting; in this case, it is best to use beads and seed beads without a surface finish.
