The talented Lucie lives in a region of wine and folklore, in Kyjov in the centre of Moravian Silesia. She has also included the colors and beauty of her home region in her jewelry. Precise workmanship, a sense of color, passion and patience are combined with her love of minerals and joy of creation.
This master’s graduate in geology and jeweler has discovered the beauty of minerals, glass crystals, beads and seed beads and presents it in her “České brože” brand.
An old metal broach with two purple stones, which she had had since her childhood, reappeared in her jewelry box after a number of years. Unfortunately, she had never been able to pin the broach on, because it was damaged. At that moment, she felt a great need to repair it and to finally be able to wear it. Thanks to this discovery, she started to try making her own broaches in a number of ways until she gradually worked out her own creative technique which she has called “broaching”.
“A broach is a piece of jewelry that can be used in a variety of ways. It is said to have multiple uses. It is the only piece of jewelry that you can wear on a jacket lapel, on a collar, a belt, a hat, a scarf, your shoes, a handbag or even in your hair. And it always looks great“, thinks the jeweler. She also appreciates the fact that broaches can be worn by both women and men. “A man’s only piece of jewelry need not be his wedding ring. Some men also like to dress up“, hints Lucie. Moreover, a broach is also an excellent means of communication. People, who would normally never stop me, start talking to me thanks to my broach“, laughs Lucie Tomanová.
