A 0.20 mm nylon line; scissors; round nosed pliers; flat nosed pliers (for crimping the metal rocaille and handling the rings); snipping pliers

Procedure

Step 1

The tube

String 1x RO, 2x R, 1x RO, 2x R, 1x RO and 2x R onto the nylon line. Thread the line through them one more time. Tie the line off (fig. 1).

Step 2

Sew in the direction to the right of the initial circle. Thread the line through a cylinder and 1x R from the initial circle. String 1x RO and 1x R. Leave out 1x RO and 1x R on the initial circle. Thread the line through the next R (fig. 2a, 2b). Once again string 1x RO and 1x R. Leave out 1x RO and 1x R on the initial circle. Thread the line through the next R (fig. 2c, 2d). Once again string 1x RO and 1x R. leave out 1x RO and 1x R on the initial circle. Thread the line through the next R. Thread the line through 1x RO and 1x R (fig. 2e, 2f). Thread the line through everything one more time.

Step 3

Repeat Step 2. String 1x RO and 1x R. Leave out 1x RO and 1x R on the initial circle. Thread the line through the next R (fig. 3a, 3b). String 1x RO and 1x R again. Leave out 1x RO and 1x R on the initial circle. Thread the line through the next R (fig. 3c, 3d). Once again string 1x RO and 1x R. Leave out 1x RO and 1x R on the initial circle. Thread the line through the next R. Thread the line through 1x RO and 1x R (fig. 3e, 3f). Thread the line through everything one more time.

Step 4

Continue repeating Step 2. Sew a total of 22 circuits (fig. 4).

4

Step 5

Sew the last circuit on top only out of cylinders. String 1x RO. Thread the line through 1x R. Do this a total of 3x. Thread the line through them one more time (figs. 5a + 5b).

5 / a

Step 6

Sew through the top cylinders two more times. Sew the line in.

Step 7

The tassel

Check to see how many pieces of leather folded in half will fit inside the sewn tube. The example has used 12 cut strips of leather of about 55 cm (fig. 7).

7

Step 8

Make a double eye on the eye pin. Insert the point of the pliers in the eye and twist it one more time. Bend the wire above the eye (fig. 8).

8

Step 9

Cut off about 30 cm of wire. String 1x R, 1x MR, 1x R and 1x MR onto it. Thread it over the folded pieces of leather. Also thread the second end of the wire through the strung rocailles. Crimp the MR. String 8 to 10x R. The amount will be determined by the length of the tube. String 1x MR, 1x R, 1x MR and 1x R. Thread the double eye on the eye pin. Thread the end of the wire through all the R and MR up to the crimped MR under the tassel. Tighten. Crimp the top MR (fig. 9a, 9b).

9 / a

Step 10

Insert the eye pin and the beginning of the tassel into the tube (fig. 10a). Link a PB onto the protruding wire (fig. 10b). Twist a multiple eye on the remaining wire. A double eye is sufficient. Cut off any excess twisted wire (fig. 10c).

Step 11

Attach a 5 mm ring to the double eye. Insert 2x 10mm rings into it. Insert the haberdasher's closing ring into them (fig. 11).

11

Step 12

Straighten out the lengths of leather (fig. 12a).
