LOCO

Lenka Holubcová
(The High School of Applied Arts for Glassmaking in Železný Brod)

A vase - cutting and melted sculpture

The vase entitled "LOCO"involves the combination of two techniques; kiln-fired glass and the melted sculpture technique based on the  theme of music. The name comes from the Spanish word for "crazy".

The shape represents the dynamic of a person's movements when dancing, which is most certainly connected with music.

It consists of two parts which have been glued together. The lower melted part represents the level of water and it has been inspired by  the emotional effect which music has on people. The color scheme of each of the vases has been inspired by a different song.

LIFE INSIDE

Melanie Mihalová
(The High School of Applied Arts for Glassmaking in Železný Brod)

Cases - cutting and melted sculpture

Life Inside is a set of three objects which can be used as a case for anything or even as an urn.

The bodies of the cases are made from lathed wood, while the lids have been made using the melted glass sculpture technique.

The lid of the first case has been inspired by waves, the second by mountains and the third case uses a combination of these two harmonious natural beauties.

An ice bowl – melted and cut glass, Liba Colors 96

Isberg is a glass bowl which has been created using the melted sculpture technique. It points to the ecological theme of global warming.

The external section has been created with a texture which imitates ice, while the internal section is reminiscent of ice melting.

The top section of the bowl has been polished on the surface and it is fully transparent.

LAPIDEUS

Antonín Košek
(The High School of Applied Arts for Glassmaking in Železný Brod)

A set of three vases – hot-shaped glass in a rotational form, Microbeads

The blown glass Lapideus vases have been inspired by Egyptian burial vessels.

Their delicate colours and "icy" structure have been achieved by packing the hot glass in bronze-coated glass microbeads from Preciosa Ornela.

Veronika Šimůnková
(SUPŠS Železný Brod)

Prsteny - kombinace Liba Colors 96 a kov

This work for the final examination consists of three glass rings inspired by amethyst crystals.

The rings consist of an upper section and square rims, which have a square hole in the middle. The upper section of the ring includes four  stylised crystals based on the shape and color scheme of amethyst crystals.

The glass crystals and the glass rims have been created using the melted glass technique. One of the rings has been melted from a single piece of glass, while the other two crystals have been glued onto a glass and metal ring.

PATRIAM

Nikola Kolářová (The High School of Applied Arts for Glassmaking in Železný Brod)

A bowl - melted and cut glass, Liba Colors 96
Made to celebrate the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Czechoslovak Republic

Patriam is a glass bowl made using the melted sculpture technique which is a response to the historical development of the Czech  territory.

The bowl is based on the stylised shape of the Czech Republic, while the internal line also depicts the stylised border of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The Protectorate was established in our country after 1938, when the Munich Agreement was signed and a large part of the Czech borderlands were ceded to the Germans.

Patriam has been designed in two color variants, in crystal and in the colors of the Czech tricolor (crystal, red and blue), using Liba  Colors 96 rods.

SLEEPING FIRE

Vendula Paldusová (The High School of Applied Arts for Glassmaking in Železný Brod)

A brooch made from Liba Colors 96 and wood

The main inspiration for this piece of jewellery, which uses glass with a uniform thermal coefficient from Preciosa Ornela, was the view of a gradually dying fire.

The base of the piece of jewellery consists of a burnt frame, into which the glass stone is fitted. Thanks to the proportional variability, it is possible to change the view of the stone's cuts depending on which side is inserted into the frame.

The workmanship and color combinations on the brooch mean that it makes an energetic, but elegant impression.

UNIVERSUM

Kateřina Hemková (The High School of Applied Arts for Glassmaking in Železný Brod)

Cutting and melted sculpture

Universum is a meditative set of crystals which can also be used as a haptic aid.

They are not glued together and as such can be put together arbitrarily according to your taste and mood. They should evoke serenity in life and peace, but also individuality and melancholy. They have beendesigned to be set in a sunny place in a modernly fitted interior.

Freedom for a headband

The topic of the final examination work for the 2nd year of the Costume Jewellery and Fashion Accessory course

The students could interpret the topic as they wished and they were not limited in the colour scheme, design or chosen technique.

ANNA HORNOVÁ

The main motif can be found in the glass stone which symbolises the Moon.

TEREZA ARTEŇUKOVÁ

Class 2, The Applied Arts Secondary School and College in Jablonec nad Nisou

Tereza's work embodies her love of animals.

She selected the motif of a peacock due to its nobility and exceptionality, but also on the basis of a visit to the Hluboká Chateau, where  she was captivated by the swaggering peacocks in the chateau gardens.

KAROLÍNA VESELÁ

Class 2, The Applied Arts Secondary School and College in Jablonec nad Nisou

Karolína wanted to invoke an impression of lightness and a feeling of freedom with a hint of nature in her final examination work.

She has admired butterflies since she was young, as she is fascinated by the lightness which enables them to fly so freely.

ALEXANDRA MACKOVÁ

Class 2, The Applied Arts Secondary School and College in Jablonec nad Nisou

Alexandra was inspired by the "First Republic" television series.

She likes how the women of that time dressed and the accessories which they used. They were always well turned out and elegant.

She has endeavoured to combine her work with the extravagance and elegance of that period.

KAROLÍNA DOLEŽALOVÁ

Class 2, The Applied Arts Secondary School and College in Jablonec nad Nisou

Kateřina's greatest inspiration can be found in the real things around us.

As she has a close relationship with plants, she decided to use the shapes which can be found in them.

Another inspiration was the ball season, so her headband can also be used, for example, as an accessory for a ball gown.

LUCIE KROUPOVÁ

Class 2, The Applied Arts Secondary School and College in Jablonec nad Nisou

Lucie's inspiration for the creation of her collection of four headbands was her work with children, whom she trains in dance.

The communication with them requires a different approach which is based on their nature and liveliness. This is why she created the collection of four headbands: "Phlegmatic, Sanguine, Choleric and Melancholic".

Their color schemes express the characteristics of the individual types.
