We present a tutorial on how to create a small snowflake using beads and seed beads from the PRECIOSA Traditional Czech Beads™ range. You can make a lot of snowflakes and use them as a beautiful winter decoration.

A 0.20 mm line – ca 70 cm long; a sewing needle; scissors
 

Procedure

Step 1

Sew through every row several times so that it is sufficiently strong. Before stringing the seed beads, check all the holes to ensure they are not blocked.

String 6x T (fig. no. 1a) and tie them off in a circle using a double knot (fig. no. 1b). Leave ca 6 cm free at the end of the line to sew in. You can sew it in straight away, so that it does not get in your way, or you can sew it in at the end as usual.

Step 2

Pass the needle through the second hole in the T (fig. no. 2a), add 1x T (fig. no. 2b) and transition to the adjacent T (fig. no. 2c + 2d). Repeat this all the way round (fig. no. 2e). Thread the needle through the second hole of the top T (fig. no. 2f).

Step 3

String 1x R, 1x K, 1x R, 1x K and 3x R (fig. no. 3a) and then return downwards with the needle through the second hole of the K (fig. no. 3b + 3c). String 1x R (fig. no. 3d) and pull the line through the second hole of the K (fig. nos. 3e + 3f).

Step 4

String 1x R (fig. no. 4a) and thread the needle through the second hole of the T (fig. nos. 4b + 4c).

Step 5

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until the circle is completed (fig. nos. 5a + 5b).

Step 6

Tie a knot in the line, sew it into the nearest seed beads and you have completed a snowflake.

It is also possible to make the snowflake longer, as can be seen in the following photographs.
